The piece is composed using Wagner's "tristanic" accord. It was reduced and manipulated till it was good to be used in Feldman's way:

Long, frozen sounds; pure, non-vibrato tones; melodic gestures; static rhythm ... this is the terms which could describe Morty's music ... and mine too. I can't avoid it.

It's like looking at the music through a microscope ...

The piece is sad.
