[Morton Feldman Page] [Feldman: Homages] |
Born in the same year as Morton Feldman, Meyer Kupferman (1926-2003) also attended the High School of Music and Art in New York City. In the 1940s and early 50s, Kupferman persuaded several of his fellow young composer friends in New York to form an ensemble called "Composers Workshop" for the purpose of reading and performing the music they were all writing at the time. Among the better known remembers of the ensemble were Feldman, Allan Blank, and Seymour Shifrin -- all of whom, along with Kupferman, went on to have successful careers as composers. In 1997, marking the 10th anniversary of Feldman's death, Kupferman composed this 6-minute duo for clarinet and piano (the instruments that he and Feldman played in "Composers Workshop").
The work is published by Soundspells Productions.
