|[Morton Feldman Page] [Feldman: Homages]|
In August 2003 I got married to my longtime girlfriend, Madeline. Although we live in the San Francisco Bay Area, we decided to do the ceremony in the yard of my boyhood home in Connecticut. As for the music, rather than having the traditional fare, we decided to use, amongst other pieces, page 22 of Feldman's Second String Quartet as processional and Bach's Third Brandenburg Concerto and "Hey Jude" as recessional. We also wanted some background to be played while the vows were exchanged so I wrote this short piece, [later entitled] "New England, Late Summer", something that would not call attention to itself but be still an effective canvas.
